Second fixture (first was conceded by St Michaels) of the league season, good win.
In their 3rd league game of the season the seniors followed up their win against Limavady with a six point success against visitors Ballymaguigan on Saturday. At half time a goal from Paul Ferris saw Ballerin in a 1-5 to 0-2 interval lead but Ballymaguigan came more into the game in the second half.
The final score was 1-10 to 0-6 and the scorers were Paul Keane 0-6, Paul Ferris 1-0, Gary Keane 0-3 and Cathal Faulkner 0-1.
On Sunday it is an away game against Glen the league favourites but it will be a good test. The team is playing nice football but not making enough use of the chances they create.
The senior camogie team were a bit below par last week losing to an impressive Newbridge team.
The minors scored their first win with a 4-16 to 1-6 win over Glenullin. Daniel Connolly had a fine game at midfield along with Pearse McIntyre and the forwards took their chances well with Ryan Deighan outstanding and scoring 1-3.
The other main scorers were Pearse McIntyre 0-6, Bobby Mullan 0-4, Ben O’Kane, Patrick Clarke 1-0 each.
Next match is at home against Drumsurn on Monday evening.
On Sunday the seniors had their second game in four day, this was a much better performance resulting in a comfortable win over a weakened Limavady Wolfhounds team by 2-14 to 1-8.
Limavady got a late penalty and two injury time points to increase their total but for most of the game Ballerin had the upper hand and led by 1-6 to 0-03 against the first half breeze. Paul Ferris and Jarleth Bradley both had outstanding games while Shaun Mullan, Brian Deighan and Cathal Faulkner also made a good contribution.
The scorers were Gary Keane 1-2, Cathal Faulkner and Paul Ferris 0-5 each, Simon McGinley 1-0, Shane Ferris and Paul Keane 0-1 each.
This Saturday there is a home game with Ballymaguigan in round three of the league and hopefully the injured trio of Ryan Deighan, Peter McGinley and Jarleth Bradley will have recovered.
The under 16 team lost at home to Coleraine by 5-7 to 2-3 but they were without two key players and the minors went under away to Foreglen by 2-11 to 1-7.
