Last Man Standing – Week 2

Last Man Standing – Week 2 (National Football League – Division 3) 78 players remaining, only 12 fallers this week – unfortunately Derry’s result had the biggest impact.

Accident - Shaun Mullan

Due to the tragic accident this week involving our senior player Shaun Mullan, there will be no club events or participation until further notice. This includes Scor, Weekly Bingo and the Annual Club Presentation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends. The Club mass tomorrow (Sunday 18th November) morning will go ahead at 10am.

Club Mass

A club mass will be held in St Mary’s Church this Sunday (19th November) at 10am for all deceased, past and present members.

A book of remembrance is available this week at the back of the chapel for anyone who wishes to record the name of a loved one. This will then be presented as part of the mass.

We invite everyone to wear their club colours.

Up coming Events

We are holding a Coach Education session on Sat 11th Nov @11am for approx 2 hours. The session will be delivered by Richard Ferris and Chris Collins. All coaches and interested parents are invited to attend.

Annual Club Presentation - 2016

The Annual Club presentations took place in the GAA Hall on Saturday night with food supplied by The Vines. Club chairman Paddy Higgins thanked all who had made the previous season quite a good one.

The award winners were:

– Under 18 Player of the year Kayley O’ Connell
– Most Dedicated Player of the year joint between Nuala Mullan and Eimear Duffy
– Players Player of the year joint between Sinead Faulkner, Katrina O’Kane and Nuala Mullan
– Senior Player of the year Sinead Faulkner.
– Club person Melinda Robinson
– Special note of thanks to Joe Wade for his services to the Senior Camogie Team

Barney McNicholl memorial Cup for best club team went to the under 14 footballers who won their section of the Feile and the league.

Annual Bazaar

The Ballerin GAC Annual Bazaar will take place in the Errigal Hall on Sunday 18th December after the weekly bingo which will commence at the earlier time of 7:30pm. Lots and lots of exciting prizes to be won. Tickets are only £1 per round with five chances of winning per round. Last round is £2 a ticket with a star prize of £1,000. Hope to see you all there.

Our Youth Presentation will take place on Saturday 17th December in the Errigal Hall at 6:45PM. The kids are all working hard to entertain on the night with a great Dance Routine and Musical Recital line up. Our special guest will be Slaughtneill dual player Sean Cassidy

Ruby Ball 2016 - 18th November

Sarsfields Ballerin G.A.C : Ruby Ball 2016 Damhsa Rúibín (18th November 2016)

Our Ruby Ball will take place on Friday 18th in the Tullyglass Hotel. Drinks reception at 6:30pm, Meal served at 7:30pm. The event is Black Tie and strictly for 16 and over. The night will be a celebration of the club’s successful teams of 1957 County Champions & 1976 / 1977 Derry & Ulster Club Champions & All Ireland Finalists. One of the Special Guests on the night will be Down Legend James McCartan.

The Club are asking that all tables & individual seats be paid for by next weekend (12th/13th). Anyone wishing to pay or grab a last minute seat can do so this Monday (7th) or Tuesday (8th) Night in the Clubrooms from 7:00-7.20pm.

The Clubs Ruby Ball gala will take place in The Tullyglass Hotel on Friday 18th November.

Members of the 1976 Ulster championship winning team and the 1957 championship team will be the special guests.

Tables can be booked by contacting Niall Mullan, Paddy Higgins, John O’Connell or Paul Robinson. Individuals can also book with the same people.

Our minors move up to 4th in the league with 2 games to play. Next match is at home to 5th place Banagher on August 8th.

Good start to the season for our Minors, now through to play Steelstown at home in Round 2 of the Carlin Duffy Cup. Game currently scheduled for Sunday 13th March @2:00pm.

Last Man Standing - Week 4

Last Man Standing Week 4 – We have 5 survivors from week 3’s 26. Fermanagh and Tyrone pulled through our last 5 while Galway and Laois took out the other 21.
Week4 Derry, Cavan and Tyrone are the teams the last 5 are banking on in week 5 (March 12th/13th), the best of luck!

Our Senior Footballers are running a Last Man Standing fundraiser for the 2016 Allianz National Football League Division 2 in which Derry will be playing (First matches last weekend of Jan ’16).

Its quite simple, pick a different team to win every week, and if your selection loses or draws, you are out. All selections must be chosen at the start of the league and you cannot select the same team twice. The cost is £10.00 per sheet, and sheets are available from any of the Senior team or management. The cash prize is a tidy £500.00.

Club Gear " New Range "

Samples will be available for fitting at the club rooms on Monday 28th September and Monday 5th October from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. In order to receive your gear in time for Christmas WE MUST have orders confirmed to O’Neills by Tuesday the 6th October. No Christmas orders can be accepted after this date.

Minors - Ballerin 1:06 3:10 Coleraine

The minors have had a bust few weeks. They went under to Coleraine in a good game by 3-10 to 1-6. the scorers were Dylan Mullan 1-0, Ryan Deighan 0-2, Ben O’Kane, Bobby Mullan, Daniel Walton and Shane McIntyre 0-1 each.

Good away win at Ballinderry with Bobby Mullan the star player scoring 3-3. The other scorers were Killian Mullan 1-2, Conor McAleese 0-2, Oran Bradley and Shane McIntyre 0-1 each.

1965 Remembered - Minor Champion winners 50 years on

Pictured are members of the victorious Ballerin Minor team which won the Derry Championship 50 years ago, at a reunion held in the Roe Park Hotel Limavady on Friday (5th June) evening. A great evening of reminiscing, memories of old and past friend took place.

Minors - Ballerin 2:10 2:06 Lissan

In recent years Ballerin and Lissan have had some great contests at under age level and it was the case again in an exciting minor league game won by Ballerin on a score of 2-10 to 2-6. At half time Ballerin with goals from Ben O’Kane and Ryan Deighan led by 2-7 to 1-6. In a low scoring second half Ballerin added three points and Lissan a goal.

The scorers were Ben O’Kane 1-2, Ryan Deighan 1-1, Shane McIntyre 0-4, Bobby Mullan 0-2 and Killian Mullan 0-1.

Minors - Craigbane 1:14 1:04 Ballerin

Our minors played Craigbane away last week in very difficult conditions and lost by 1-13 to 1-4. Ben O’Kane scored the goal and the points came from Shane McIntyre, Oran Bradley, Bobby Mullan and Daniel Connolly.

Our minors lost away to Glenullin by 1-12 to 1-5 in a good competitive game. Best wishes to Glenullin player Jack McIlvar who got a shoulder injury.

Minor - Ballerin 1:08 7:06 Dungiven

The minor footballers were in action on Sunday against Dungiven but it was the visitors ability to get goals that made the difference in this Carlin/Duffy Cup game. Despite a brave effort from the Ballerin lads Dungiven went on to win by 7-6 to 1-8.
